Sustainability is about taking actions today that will create a better future, with an even higher quality of life, for the present generation, as well as for our children and grandchildren. Sustainability is about ensuring that today's actions lead to a future with a prosperous economy, healthy natural environment, social well being, and a vibrant arts and culture scene throughout Halton Hills. It is an opportunity to plan proactively for challenges that may wait on the horizon, including rising energy costs and new regulations.

During the summer of 1980, Terry Fox ran through Georgetown on his Marathon of Hope. He ran along highway 7, stopped at the top of Norval Hill and was greeted by thousands who lined the route, made him homemade food, gave him cards, donated what they could and wished him well. Each year since, the Georgetown Terry Fox Run has endevoured to achieve the goal Terry never lived to see: a cure for cancer. On Sunday, September 17, join us at the Gellert Centre in Georgetown South as we stand against cancer, remember Terry and enjoy a beautiful day of friends, family and fundraising. Walk, roll, run or jog the 5k loop. Pets are welcome. Free pizza, drinks and Terry Fox memorabilia will be available. But most of all: when cancer's last day comes; know that you did your part to make Terry's dream come true.
